Mr. Blatchford supported various science and technology research efforts related to Surface Water, through Reclamation’s Research and Development Office.

The research efforts are listed as follows:

• A web-based data assimilation framework for improving operational decision making

This research effort is complete, and tied increased temperatures to decreasing runoff efficiency in the Rio Grande and Colorado River watersheds. The research was conducted by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, in partnership with the Albuquerque Area Office.

This research is ongoing and is being conducted by UNLV, in partnership with the Lake Arrowhead Community Services District and the City of San Diego, to develop guidelines related to reuse effluent and mixing in reservoirs.
